Unique 10 & Under Development – WHITE

The 10 & under development program represents swimmers 10 & under with a desire to begin year round swimming, HAVE FUN, and focus on self improvement. Swimmers will focus on developing proper body balance, proper kicking skills, as well as proper stroke drills to be efficient in the water. The program is designed to provide minimum commitment in order to provide flexibility to participate in other activities. Swimmers will participate in 4 practices per week, each practice will be 60 minutes in duration, and swimmers will not practice on the weekends. Swimmers are encouraged to participate in competitions however this is not a requirement. Swimmers in this group are typically B – AA level.

Unique 10 & Under Competitive – ORANGE

The 10 & under competitive program represents swimmers 10 & under with a desire to begin year round swimming, HAVE FUN, and focus on self improvement. Unique 10 & Under Elite – BLACK

 

The unique 10 & under elite program represents swimmers ages 9 -10 with a strong desire to HAVE FUN, develop ones self, work ethic, commitment level, as well as advanced strokes and skills. Swimmers training at this level are expected to maintain a high level of participation in order remain eligible for this group. The goals of the group are to develop a love for the sport as well as the skills necessary to be successful long term. Swimmers in this group will train 4 -5 days a week with each practice being 90 minutes. The training goals of this group include a long term focus on training and preparing for Virginia State A/BB Championships, Virginia Age Group Championships, and Eastern Zone Championships. Swimmers in this group are typically AA – Top 16 level.

Unique Age Group Development – WHITE

The age group development program represents swimmers between the ages of 11 – 14 or swimmers in middle school that have developed beyond the summer league and local swim lessons level. Swimmers in this group should have a desire to develop ones self, stroke skills, stroke fundamentals, and improve stroke technique. The program is designed to provide minimum commitment in order to provide flexibility to participate in other activities. The program is also designed to provide minimum commitment to allow swimmers enough development before moving to the elite training programs. Swimmers will participate in 4 - 5 practices per week, each practice will be 90 minutes in duration, and swimmers will not practice on the weekends. Swimmers are encouraged to participate in competitions however this is not a requirement. Swimmers in this group are typically B – AA level.

Unique Age Group Elite – BLACK

 

The unique age group elite program represents swimmers ages 11 – 14 or swimmers in middle school, with a strong desire to develop ones self, work ethic, commitment level, as well as advanced strokes and skills. Swimmers training at this level are expected to maintain a high level of participation in order to remain eligible for this group. The training demands and goals are designed to provide the swimmers with proper focus in order to be highly successful at a highly elite level. Swimmers will focus on excellent technique based swimming as well as more demanding aerobic and anaerobic development in this group. Swimmers in this group will train a minimum of 5 days a week with each practice being 2 hours in duration as well as 2-3 land base sessions a week each lasting 60 minutes. The training goals of this group include a long term focus on the proper training, the proper preparation, and developing the proper skills to qualify and compete at Virginia State A/BB Championships, Virginia State Age Group Championships, Eastern Zone Championships, and beyond. Swimmers in this group are typically AA – Top 16 level and beyond.

Unique High School Competitive - WHITE

 

The senior high school development group represents swimmers ages 15 and older or swimmers attending high school. The group is for swimmers with United States swimming experience, summer league experience, or high school level experience. Swimmers participate in a program that will develop swimming skills, develop all four competitive strokes, develop training skills, as well as racing skills to prepare the swimmer for local high school dual meets, District/State High School Championships, Virginia Swimming Senior State Championships, Speedo Championship Series/Sectionals, and Eastern Zone Championships. The senior high school development group is a focused group with fewer demands as well as less commitment. There is no practice attendance requirement for this group, and swimmers are encouraged to compete in United States Swimming meets however this is not a requirement

Unique Senior Development – ORANGE

 

The senior development group represents swimmers that are highly interested in training at the senior elite as well as high performance levels. The senior development group is also known as the Pre-Senior training group. The main goal of this group is to develop each athlete’s skills, and prepare each athlete to train at the senior elite level as well as in the high performance group. Swimmers ages 12 – 15 with the proper levels of commitment, effort, dedication, and participation will be selected to the group by the coach. Swimmers are encouraged to attend all practice sessions, land base training sessions, as well as meets as scheduled. Swimmers should expect to continue to improve technique, stroke skills, racing skills, and work ethic. The physical and mental demands placed on the swimmers at this level will be high to prepare the athlete to be successful in the elite training programs. Swimmers are highly encouraged to maintain a minimum of 85% attendance at both practice and land base training sessions. Swimmers in this program will train a minimum of 6 practice sessions a week as well as a minimum of 3 land base/weight training session per week. The training goals of this group include a long term focus on the proper training, the proper preparation, and developing the proper skills to qualify and compete at Virginia State A/BB Championships, Virginia State Age Group Championships, Virginia Senior State Championships, Speedo Championship Series/Sectionals, Eastern Zone Championships, and beyond.

Unique Senior Elite – BLACK

 

The senior elite group represents swimmers ages 15 and older with a high level of commitment, effort, dedication, and participation. Swimmers in this group are highly competitive as well as highly focused. Practice sessions, land base training, as well as the competition schedule are more demanding at this level. Swimmers are expected to attend all meets as scheduled by the coach. The training goals of this group include a long term focus on the proper training, the proper preparation, and developing the proper skills to qualify and compete at Virginia Senior State Championships, Speedo Championship Series/Sectionals, Eastern Zone Championships, Junior Nationals, and Senior Nationals. Swimmers must maintain a minimum of 85% attendance at both practice and land base training sessions to remain eligible for the group. Swimmers in this program will train a minimum of 6 practice sessions a week as well as a minimum of 3 land base/weight training session per week. Recommended practice sessions will also be offered and swimmers are highly encouraged to attend.

Unique High Performance Group

 

The high performance group is the most elite training group Unique Swimming offers. To be selected for the group the swimmer must possess the highest and proper levels of commitment, effort, dedication, and participation. Swimmers are expected to attend 100% of the practices offered which includes land base training sessions, morning training sessions and recommended training sessions. Swimmers are also expected to attend all meets as scheduled by the coach. The training goals of this group include a long term focus on the necessary training, the necessary preparation, and developing the necessary skills to qualify and compete at Junior Nationals, Senior Nationals, U.S. Open, World Championships, and Olympic Trials. Swimmers in this program will train 6 – 9 practice sessions a week as well as a minimum of 3 land base/weight training session per week.
